China is in an important period of economic transformation presently. During this period the formal institution is not perfect and the private economy develops fast,so building political connection has become a common practice for private firms to seek protection and development. However,building political connection involves the risk of breeding corruption,which may bring extra costs to enterprises. There are close correlations as well as various differences between political connection and corruption. For the risk averse and sustainable development,private firms should have rational thinking of political connection,keep operation compliance and strengthen the power of political voice by establishing industry association. Governments can reduce intervention,construct institutions,and push innovation and culture change to eliminate the motive of political connection and related corruption.And other stakeholders can also play a role in this governance and regulation.
