The establishment of the first university of Japan, University of Tokyo, has played an important role at the early stage of system exploration and spirit brewing of Japanese universities. The institutions, such as governing mechanism, departmental university system, lecture system, and graduate school system created during the early years of the University of Tokyo, have become the original point of institutional development of Japanese universities. The spirit power in the successful construction of university system are embodied with localized characteristic, such as the quality of pursing excellence, the viewpoint of multi-function of university, the cultural development logic of grafting and freedom, which has affected the systematic development of Japanese universities, making the early Tokyo University the seeder of the spirit of Japanese universities.
