Camitine palmitoyltransferase 1 （CPT1） is the rate-limiting enzyme of fatty acid [3 oxidation. CPTlc, as the last member of CPT1 family, contains the necessary enzymatic catalytic domains but does not show a significant activity of carnitine acyltransferase in vitro. Functional studies suggest that CPTlc affects the progress of tumorigenesis and is regulated in response to hypoxia and other metabolic stress. Here we re- view the biological function of CPT 1 c and its roles in tumor diagnosis.
