英文摘要：

The binary margin of firm export may play a positive role on industrial structural optimization of the exporter＇ s country. On the basis of theoretical and stylized fact analyses, this paper constructs a robust cross-national balanced panel data model to identify the effects of the extensive and intensive margins industrial structural change. The results show that, during the sample periods, an expanded intensive margin can have a significant positive impact on industrial structural optimization, whereas an expanded extensive margin does not. This suggests that enlarging the export scale of existing exporters can be helpful for trade development and industrial structural upgrading, which is critical to avoiding the ＂middle-income trap＂ . Meanwhile, improving the exporter survival rate is cru- cial for stabilizing export development and industrial structural optimization.
