Single direction and ＂S＂ type bending performance of hydrothermal-treated elm after longitudinal compression is analyzed. The result shows that the single direction and ＂S＂ type bending performance of mature wood is superior to that of juvenile wood; the single direction and ＂S＂ type bending performance in the tangential direction is superior to that in the radial direction; the＂S＂ type bending performance after longitudinal compression is superior to corresponding single direction bending performance; the variability of juvenile wood in radial direction, and ＂S＂ type bending performance s relatively small.
