Hot smoke tests carried out in the left line of Xiangan tunnel, including the research method selecting, conditions setting, and measured data collation and analyzing were described. Petrol and methanol hoth were used as fuel in the smoke tests. The test indicates that at the initial fire, the speed of smoke movement is slow and it can be effectively controlled by the tunnel ventilation and smoke extraction system. The operation method of the fans should be carefully considered with thedevelopment of fire in tunnel.
