Shanxi province is one of the most important nation＇ s industrial bases of energy. The coal exploitation in Shanxi has brought enormous economic benefits to china＇ s economy, and along with the enormous ecological damage and the serious environment pollution of this area. These problems have influenced the sustainable development of coal industry in Shanxi Province. In order to protect the health of the ecological system, improve the environment quality and promote the economic development at the same time, Shanxi Province has carried out Ecocompensation mechanisms of coal exploitation. This paper apply the SWOT method to identify the strengths （ S ）, weaknesses （ W ）, opportunities （ 0 ） and threats （T） of Ecocompensation Mechanisms of Coal Exploitation in Shanxi Province, and put forward the corresponding proposition to provide useful reference to the sustainable development of coal industry and the improvement of ecological environment in Shanxi province.
