Micro RNAs(mi RNAs) are a class of endogenous small regulatory non-coding RNAs with length of about 22 nt,which have been implicated in almost all the life processes.Recent studies have showed that the downregulation of mi RNA-489(mi R-489) expression could be detected in different kinds of tumors, and mi R-489 is involved in proliferation, apoptosis, invasion and metastasis of various tumor cells by directly suppressing the expressions of its target genes such as HER2,AKT3 and SPIN1.The dysregulated expression of mi R-489 is closely correlated with chemo-resistance and tumor development. Therefore, understanding the expression and regulation of mi R-489 and its role in tumor and other diseases will offer the foundation for further clinical application. This paper reviews the research progress of mi R-489 in malignant tumors.
