The attachment of microalgae navicula on pseudomons aeruginosa PAO1 biofilm and its influence on the electrochemical behavior of 316L stainless steel were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and dynamic potential polarization curve for a better understanding on the attachment of marine microalgae on metal material and its impact on metal corrosion. The results showed that the bacteria biofilm inhibited navicula attachment in the initial stage and promoted navicula attachment in the later stage. Electrochemical results revealed that navicula attachment on 316L stainless steel increased the corrosion tendency of 316L stainless steel, and increased the corrosion rate. However, the bacteria biofilm in some extent inhibited the corrosion of 316L stainless steel.
