The economic development of border areas of northeast China is an inevitable option for the open strategy of northeast China and even the whole country. It is also a new source for economic growth under the background of downward pressure on the economy of the region. Starting with problems for the economic growth of the areas, the study analyzes the strategic importance and constraints for the development and put forward responding strategies for orderly economic growth. The strategies include strengthening intergovernmental negotiation and communication to build a regional cooperation system, improving modern infrastructure system for promoting interconnection capacity, boosting upgrading and optimization of industrial structure to develop characteristic industries in the border areas, and enhancing cross-border cooperation service to intensify the establishment of the credit system.
