The expansive soil is a kind of soil with special project property to swell, which has enormous danger and influence to the construction of the railway and highway. This paper first gives a brief introduction of the pro- ject property of the expansive soil, and then argues on swollen reason and destructive mechanism of the expansive soil. Finally, the author of this paper points out attentive matters and prevention measure in construction of the expansive soil slope.
