On the base of consulting the existing literature, and combining with the occurring situationof the pine caterpillars, this article firstly systematically analyzes and demonstrates the main content of the eco-economic losses caused by the pine caterpillars, including 11 aspects of the losses： forest product, landscape value, agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery, human health, water conserva- tion, soil and water conservation, windbreak and sand-fixation, purifying air, regulating climate, carbon sequestration and oxygen production, protecting biodiversity, etc; then constructs the index system of the eco-economic losses evaluation of the pine caterpillars, including 2 first-level indexes ; 4second-level indexes, 13 third-level indexes, 26 fourth-level indexes.
