In this study the effluence of a Beijing reclaimed water plant was chosen to investigate the variations in quality indicators of landscape after the supplies of renewable water, especially focused on effects of nitrogen nutrients (ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen) on the chlorophyll a and algal density. The experimental results showed that the concentration of chlorophyll a and algal density were mainly influenced by concentration of phosphate and N/P ratio in water. With phosphate concentrations below 1 mg/L, the ammonia concentration below 2 mg/L, and the concentration of nitrate nitrogen below 8 mg/L, supplying landscape water with the reclaimed water is feasible and does not cause serious algal outbreak. But the algal density would increase drastically with the increasing of phosphate concentration to 1.5 mg/L.
