The development of time geographic theory is examined first, including its origin, evolution and application. Aiming at better understanding what time geography would bring to benefit modern urban planning and regional planning, this paper emphasizes its new development after combining with GIS and benefiting from the rapid development of computation technology and the availability of high resolution space-time individual data since 1990s. The GIS- based geovisualization and geocomputation within the time geography framework will definitely be applied as a useful tool for future transportation study, urban planning and tourism planning. Finally, discussions and suggestions for the future researches, such as planning tooling and topic multiplication, are advanced.
