This study investigates the public cognitive status towards national honor. The research found social popularity of national honor is relatively low, and the degree of national honor practice from public participation is very low. Compared with the public within the system, the public outside the system focus less on national honor. Public cognition of national honor tends to be diverse and rational, but they still lack sufficient understanding of its functional role, as they hold the opinion that moral and ethical orientation of national honor is higher than its achievement orientation. Public recognition of national honor as well as the heroes and models is not high enough, and the public consider that there are some other problems existed such as transparency, formalization and recognition.
