Research progress on biocompatibility, endocytosis and intracellular trafficking, as well as their intrinsic enzymatic activity-related cellular effects of magnetic iron nanoparticles(Fe3O4 NPs) were summarized. These comprehensive researches provide valuable insights for anti-oxidation, autophagy regulation, theranostics, radiation treatment and other biomedical applications of magnetic iron nanoparticles.
