The risk of landslides, which have been ject, are increasing because of reactivated landslides and new the cyclical loading landslides would th treated in phase Ⅱ and Ⅲ of the Three Gorges pro- and unloading of the Three Gorges reservoir. The reaten people's lives and the safety of property. In order to mitigate the risk, remote sensing (RS) and geographic information systems (GIS) are used to study the correlation between the distribution of landslides and other factors, pography, lithology, faults, water basins and anthropogenic influences. The results show evation, aspect and elevation variation coefficient in topography have higher correlation wi slides. Moreover, faults have no obvious effect on the quantity of landslides. The spatial of the landslides in the study area is restricted by the combinations of factors. Accor weights of these restrictions, a risk assessment of landslides is carried out.
