Consilience is the foundation of the establishment and development of theoretical system of social science.However,the development of modern economics gradually separates from other branches of social science,leading to the increasing impoverishment of economics.At the same time,current movement of economics imperialism is also unilateral.Firstly,the natural sciences,including mathematics,physics and biology,unilaterally expand into economics which learns from or even copies the basic methods of these sciences.Secondly,according to inherent assumptions,economics once again introduces the methods copied from natural sciences into other social sciences,thus incorporating other social sciences in economics.Therefore,the movement of economics imperialism is not the right way to achieve consilience;on the contrary,it gives rise to further parochialism and rigidity of economic theories.
