As a new digital currency emerging from the network, Bitcoin has attracted widespread attention, and also attracts the attention of governments because of its characteristics of decentration, virtuality, no inflation, low transaction cost and free convertibility. No matter if Bitcoin could become the world currency, its character- istics have important influence on building the future ideal world currency. The concept of Bitcoin, its character- istics and development process are discussed, and then the beneficial train of thought which help build the future world currency is analyzed. On this basis, a number of measures which promote the development of the interna- tional monetary system are proposed.
