Fe-Cu-Ta-Si-B nanocrystalline ribbons can be obtained by melt-spinning technique without annealing processes. At the same Cu content, α-Fe(Si) occurs more easily in as-quenched Fe-Cu-Nb-Si-B than in as-quenched Fe-Cu-Ta-Si-B. The appropriate Cu addition improves the nucleation of α-Fe(Si) in as-quenched Fe-Cu-Ta-Si-B ribbons. However, the excess Cu addition weakens the nano-crystallization, due to coarsening of the Cu clusters thus decreasing of the nucleation site for α-Fe(Si).
