Artificial diamond/NiCrAl composite powders were prepared by mechanical alloying (MA). The effects of diamond content on the microstructure, the particle size distribution of the milled powder were investigated. Cold spray was used to deposit cermet coatings. The effects of powder structure and diamond content on the composition and microstructure of cold-sprayed cermet coating were investigated. It was observed that there was no reaction between diamond and NiCrAl alloy during MA, and diamond dispersed uniformly in NiCrAl matrix. It was found that the composition and microstructure of the spray powders were completely retained in the composite coatings.
