The traditional STEP and formal language EXPRESS unify the product information modelling standard and realize data exchange and mutual operational capability in syntactic level, but STEP provides no share and exchange in knowledge. Contemporary computing environment needs a Wed-based language to describe product information. Web ontology language （OWL） is introduced and an example is presented to show its application to product information expression.
