The research methods of chromosome and their application in Lilium genus were reviewed in this paper. The chromosome research methods include karyotype analysis, Giemsa C-banding, in situ hybridization. The results of lily ploidy hybridization and the polyploidy breeding, and the rule of different ploidy lilies as hybrid parents were also discussed.
