Aim To study and analyze the content and editorial features of Journal of Gezhiyiwen in communicating the western science and technology.Methods Literature review and analysis.Results Journal of Gezhiyiwen pays more attention to introducing scientific knowledge in the weste.It reports Chinese and foreign news,besides that,it also introduces knowledge of western science,such as electricity,optical science,acoustics,magnetics,botany,zoology,somatic anthropology,geography,mineral science,astronomy,mathematics and so on,and the invention and new technology,such as wine brew,sugar makeing,electric cars,cement,slide projector,the technology of tap water.Conclusion Journal of Gezhiyiwen is very knowledgeable,with beautiful pictures,various style forms,wide alidience,had a positive impact on the intellectual development.
