He is a professor of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Harbin Polytechnic University. He conducts teaching and research on basic theory of insulation technology and its application. He studied the movement of electrons in insulating polymeric material, in the use of technology of the thermally stimulated current curve, and in assessing the characteristics of the electrical ageing as well as in directing material modification. He discovered new conductive properties and has produced pressure and temperature sensors. He is the Director of the Academic Committee of Shanghai Key Lab of Electrical Insulation and Thermal Ageing.
