The paraffin section method is adapted to discuss the developing process of flower bud differen‐tiation of wild hawthorn in Xinjiang.The results indicated that the flower bud differentiation started in the first ten‐day period of July and continue to next April.The flower bud differentiation process lasted for a‐bout 280 days.The whole process may be divided into the non‐differentiation stage,the initial differentia‐tion stage,the bud differentiation stage,the sepal primordial differentiation stage,the petal primordial dif‐ferentiation stage,the stamen primordial differentiation stage,the pistil primordial differentiation stage and the ovule differentiation stage.Differentiation began in the middle ten‐day period August,flower bud dif‐ferentiation focussed in the middle ten‐day period of August,sepal primordium differentiation and petal pri‐mordium differentiation were concentrated in the middle ten‐day period of September and October,and the differentiation of stamen and pistil was focussed in the next march.The flower bud differentiation period of wild hawthorn have overlapping phenomenon.Sepals differentiation stage,petal differentiation stage,sta‐men differentiation stage and pistil differentiation stage exist together in the winter.
