Several methods （such as nano-SiO2 surface modification method, sol-gel method and in situ polymerization method） of preparing waterborne polyurethane （WPU）/nano-SiO2 hybrid materials were introduced. The research progress of nano-SiO2 prepared by chemical graft modification, and the hybrid materials with covalent bond connection prepared by sol-gel method was especially reviewed. Finally, the development direction of WPU/nano- SiO2 hybrid materials was proposed.
