A novel optical fiber reactor, utilizing side-glowing optical fiber (SOF) as substrates, and loading with nano-size titania films, has been first designed in this article. The new reactor configuration provided much larger active surface area due to the fine diameter of SOF, solved the shortage of those conventional fix-bed reactors, and furthermore, enhanced the efficiency of light transmission and utilization.
