Lily is a kind of important flowers with medicinal, edible and ornamental values, and has a very high economic value. Understanding its genetic diversity is critical for both theory and application. Recent advances on genetic diversity in Lilium were reviewed respectively from morphology, chromosome, isozyme and DNA levels, and some emergent questions and tendencies were also presented and discussed in the paper.
