There are increasing evidences showing that short--term intensive insulin therapy may significantly improve the beta--cell function by normalizing blood glucose. However, some experts hold that insulin therapy may yield more cost than benefit, so the comparative therapeutics principle and method was used to discuss this issue, and the importance of short--term intensive insulin therapy was emphasized in newly diagnosed type Ⅱ diabetics.
