An investigation was carried out to the retention and drainage performance of amphoteric guar gum graft copolymer (LGG-g-PAM) in bleached bagasse sulfate pulp. The experiments indicate that LGG-g-PAM7 had a dual effect of favorable retention and strengthening. LGG-g-PAM10 had a superior retention effect on precipitated calcium carbonate(PCC), The appropriate pH range for the system was 7-9, and high electrical conductivity had very little influence on the system. With the rotating speed of DDJ increasing, the first-pass retention (FPR) decreases, yet good retention effect was obtained when the rotating speed was less than 1000r/min.
