Due to the dynamics of vehicle density and the fast movement of vehicles, connectivity is an important performance met-rics to indicate the communication quality of the Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks( VANETs). Grouping vehicles into platoons on the road can decrease traffic congestion, and reduce fuel consumption. This paper studies the connectivity probability in one- way and two-way platoon- based Vehicle- to- Vehicle( V2V) communication networks. Analysis and simulation results show that the connectivity probability can be significantly improved when there are platoons in the network. Moreover, the connectivity probability in two- way network is higher than it in one- way network. These results can provide forceful theoretical support to the future Intelligent Trans-portation System( ITS) design.
