Complex 1 [Cd(hca)2(H2O)3] was obtained by the reaction of CdCl2·2H2O,NaOH and 4-hydroxycinnamic acid(Hhca) and complex 2 [Cu(hca)2(phen)] was obtained by the reaction of Cu(Ac)2·H2O,4-hydroxycinnamic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline.The crystal structure reveals that complex 1 is of orthorhombic,space group Pbcn with a=2.629 7(4) nm,b=1.095 76(17) nm,c=0.732 16(11) nm,V=2.109 7(6) nm^3,Z=4,μ=1.092 mm-1,Dc=1.665 Mg·m-3,F(000)=1 072 and the complex 2 is of monoclinic,space group C2/c with a=2.420 5(5) nm,b=1.006 1(2) nm,c=0.732 2(11) nm,β=109.55°,V=2.530 8(9) nm^3,Z=4,μ=0.912 mm^-1,Dc=1.496 Mg·m^-3,F(000)=1 172.Both com-plexes are mononuclear but hydrogen bonds enrich the structural construction.By the linkage of hydrogen bonds,complex 1 shows a 3D supramolecular network and complex 2 shows a 2D supramolecular network.
