Epimedium is a traditional Chinese pharmic plant, in which icariin is the main active ingredients. Pharmacological studies have shown that icariin has lots of activities, such as improving cardiovascular function, enhancing gonadal function, improving the immune function, inhibiting osteoclasts, promoting osteoblasts, anti-aging, anti-tumor, anti-virus, and so on. The paper summarizes the research advances about the pharmaceutical activities of Icarlin.
