Objective To investigate the levels of serum nitric oxide( NO),total of nitric oxide synthase( TNOS),inducible nitric oxide synthase( iNOS) and endothelial nitric oxide synthase( eNOS) of the Han and Uygur patients with pulmonary tuberculosis treated with anti tuberculosis drugs, and analyze the relationship among the level of NO and NOS.Methods A total of 129 patients of Han and 122 patients of Uygur were collected, the levels of serum NO and NOS were measured by the principle of nitrate reductase and spectrophotography, respectively. Results The serum concentrations of NO,TNOS,iNOS and e NOS in the Han patients were( 124.62 ± 18.24) μmol ·L^-1,( 29.79 ± 2.77),( 22.42 ± 3.36),( 7.37 ±3.56) U·m L^-1,respectively,significantly higher than those of Uygur patients, which were( 89.98 ± 13.28) μmol·L^-1,( 25.25 ±3.57),( 18.90 ±2.47),( 6.34 ±2.66) U·m L^-1( P〈0.05).The concentration of NO in male was higher than that in female( P〈0.05).The concentration of NO in BMI≥24 kg·m-2group was apparent higher that in the BMI≤18.5kg·m^-2and BMI in 18.5 - 23.9 kg·m^-2group( P〈0.05).Meanwhile,the analysis of types of treatment and sputum examination indicated thatthere was no significant difference in the content of NO and NOS between the two ethnic groups( P〈0.05).Conclusion NO was involved in the immune function of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, the study on the difference of the concentrations of NO in Han and Uygur patients will provide a reference for the relevant mechanisms of NO expression in different national tuberculosis patients.
