Wastewater treatment by resource utilization is a development tendency in the future. In this review, the progresses of application and study on microalgae cultivation using wastewater are presented, and treatment feasibility and mechanism of different wastewater by microalgae are also introduced. Finally, based on maturity of existing technologies, the research emphasis for wastewater treatment through microalgae is proposed.
