Radiation belongs to the six exogenous fiery toxin in Chinese medicine, TCM lung collaterals concept including Western Medicine Anatomy of the lungs; pulmonary collateral disease is a pathological state of lung disease, radiation-induced lung injury is a special type of pulmonary collateral disease, including pulmonary collaterals from disease and chronic illness into the collaterals, which is an inevitable side effect of radiation therapy in patients with thoracic tumors, at the same time, it aggravates the pathogenesis of tumor patients themselves;the pathological evolution process of radiation-induced lung accords to the theory of collaterals disorders due to the long illness in Chinese medicine. Based on collateral disease theory, combined with the pathophysiological characteristics of radiation induced lung injury, the feasibility of the theory of collateral disease on the treatment of radiation-induced lung injury was discussed.
