P.australis is a cosmopolitan species distributed in heterogeneous habitats and shows large variation in genetic material,morphology and chromosome numbers,as well as plasticity in reproductive strategy.This article overviewed the researches on the phenomenon and responses of P.australis in heterogeneous habitats in recent years,and thought that P.australis＇ main adaptive strategies were phenotypic plasticity and genetic variation.This study aimed to provide more research thought for the research of adaptive strategies of Phragmites australis.
