Evolvable hardware is a relatively new term that describes the application of evolutionary to the design and real-time adaptation of a physical structure. Its aim is self-organizing,self-adaptation and self-repairing of a hardware circuit to improve the reliability. The paper introduced the concept, basic principles and realization of EHW. It summarized the research in the world and discussed the problems of EHW.
