As a new-style biocomposite, carbon nanotubes/chitosan (CNTs/CS) composites have excellent mechanical, biological, photoelectric properties because of their unique structure. The preparation methods of CNTs/CS composites are mainly reviewed in this paper, such as solution blending, electrostatic self-assembly, and layer-by-layer self-assembly, and the merits and demerits of different methods are discussed in detail. Also, application progress of CNTs/CS composites in the fields of biomedical, electrochemical sensors and electromagnetic shielding are summarized, and the main research direction and development trend are imagined.
