The paper introduces the organizational routines theory into the research area of adaptive enterprises. Based on organizational routines as a key unit of analysis, it builds up the relation among these routines and adaptive enterprises, and gives a systematic dissection of the operational modes of adaptive enterprises. In addition,it provides an empirical case study, as well. All of work may provide both a theoretic base and a general framework for designing of adaptive enterprises from a routine - based perspective.
