The objective of this study is to summarize the studies on triterpenoid saponins of Platycodon grandiflorum and provide new reference for further research and exploitation. The structures of triter- penoid saponins and pharmacological activities of Platycodon grandiflorum were comprehensively reviewed according to phylogeny of Platycodon grandiflorum ~ The study shows that as an edible and medicinal herb, P. grandiforum is of bright developing prospect and worthy of being further investigated
