The biosynthesis of melanin and the common signal pathways involved in the regulation of melanogenesis were made a brief introduction. The progress of studies on the melanogenesis inhibitors and their inhibitory mechanisms were also introduced in this research. These will provide reference for the research and potential application of melanogenesis inhibitors in medical and cosmetic industries.
