The development of the proton exchange membranes operating at medium temperature, including solid acids, polymer blends, inorganic protonconductors and inorganic organic composite membranes, are summa rized. The composites with different inorganic additives are classified and reviewed like hygroscopic oxides but also materials with ionexchange properties, mineral acids, heteropoly acids, zirconium phosphates and other metal phos phates, as well as solid acids.
