The formula for calculating the velocity of uniform turbidity current in reservoir was derived in this study, which was related to unit discharge, sediment concentration and bed slope of the reservoir, and accounts for the effects of the correction coefficient of density current and the hydraulic radius with the occurrence of inferfaee. The method for calculating the propagation speed of turbidity current and the formula for calculating the propagation time of turbidity current in reservoir were then proposed, with the parameter in the formula being calibrated by the observed data of turbidity currents in the Xiaolangdi Reservoir.
