An inventory model with general trapezoidal type demand rate, time dependent deterioration rate and time-dependent partial backlogging of unsatisfied demand is established. The model is studied under the starting with shortages policy. The existence and uniqueness of optimal ordering policy for the model is discussed and an algorithm to obtain the optimal ordering policy is presented.
