Oncomelania hupensis is the only intermediate host of Schistosoma japonicum.Studying the biological characteristics of wild or bred Oncomelania hupensis,including its morphological,genetic,physiological,and biochemical characteristics,is essential to controlling schistosomiasis.This paper summarizes the biological characteristics and the methods of breeding Oncomelania hupensis.
