Although the ionic conductivities of pure acetic acid and pure boron trifluoride diethyl etherate (BFEE) are very low, acetic acid containing certain amount of boron trifluoride diethyl etherate can form good mixed proton electrolyte with ionic conductivity maximum of 5.8× 10^3 μS/cm when BFEE molar fraction is 65%. The IR and ^1H NMR spectra of the mixed electrolyte indicate that the main conductive species in mixed electrolytes are CH3COOH2^+ and CH3COOBF3^-.
