A novel mathematical model has been developed to simulate the transformation behaviour in hot rolled Si- Mn TRIP steel, and the simulated results of transformation during step cooling are in good agreement with the hot rolling experiments. The influences of hot working and cooling process parameters on microstructure evolution during cooling were analyzed. The results show that reducing the finishing temperature, enhancing the deforma- tion degree or increasing the slow cooling time in α/γ region can all accelerate the ferrite transformation, which will promote the carbon enrichment in residual austenite.
