A modified immunogold-labeling technique based on Epon 812 embedding specimen was used to localize prophenoloxidase（PPO） in the midgut and integument tissue from the 5th instar larvae of Ostrinia furnacalis Guenée.The mouse anti-O.furnacalis PPO serum prepared in our laboratory was used as primary antibody and colloidal gold labeled goat anti-mouse IgG as the secondary antibody.Bis（acetato） dioxouranium and lead citrate were used in the staining system.Both the labeling specific and resolution of electron microscopy were improved.
